Phases UX Design Challenge

PHASE 1

Research - Empathise Your Users' Needs

To gain a deeper understanding of the problem you're trying to solve, it is essential to engage in user research and develop empathy for your users. This is a crucial aspect of a human-centred design process such as design thinking, as it allows you to put aside your own biases and gain a genuine understanding of user needs.
Techniques like interviews, surveys, secondary research, competitive analysis, value proposition

PHASE 2

Define - State Your Users' Needs and Problems

To understand and address the needs of your users, carefully analyze the research data. Create problem statements to define core issues, and develop personas to keep a human-centered focus.
Create various artifacts like persona, HMW, affinity mapping, task analysis, journey mapping, and user stories to document the process effectively.

PHASE 3

Ideate & Prototype

Now that you have a solid understanding of the problem and have gathered all necessary information, it's time to generate creative solutions. Utilize brainstorming techniques to think outside the box and identify innovative solutions to the problem statement. The goal is to find the best possible solution for each problem identified. To test these ideas, create inexpensive, scaled-down versions of the product or specific features using paper prototyping or other low-fidelity methods.
This can include creating sketches, wireframes, design mockups, screen flow, prototype and next step.

PHASE 4

Create Case Study

Creating a compelling case study is essential for UX designers. It showcases your process, the problem you tackled for users, and your solution. Case studies are a secret weapon in two ways: they impress potential employers by revealing more about your work than a resume or cover letter ever could, increasing your chances of landing opportunities.

Benefits

Build Stronger Portfolio

A design challenge builds a stronger case study in a portfolio because it demonstrates the designer is capable of identifying a problem, researching and analyzing the situation, and developing a solution that is both effective and visually appaling, while working within a specified timeline.

This provides potential clients or employers with a clear understanding of the designer's abilities and how they can be applied to real-world projects.
